I downloaded the update earlier today, it downloaded from the internet with ease and then went to the screen that says "Wii U Menu" on the gamepad. It has been on that screen for the past few hours and it hasn't moved. I can hear music in the background. It's very soothing even though it is a frustrating issue.
I check the other forums, looked like someone had a similar problem but they had previous freezing issues.... i have only had my system freeze once or twice (once when i first got it playing Mario U and once a few months later when I played NBA2K13). So far, no big problems.
In the other forum someone mentioned a trick where you insert and take out a game disc and it will jog the system into working. that didn't do anything.
ONE THING WORTH NOTING IS: I currently don't have a TV in my house and have been using the Wii U on the daily with just the gamepad. It's awesome. So handy. BUT i started downloading this new update today 0nd now I dont know if there is something on the TV I should be seeing or selecting during this Wii U menu screen. I am doubting that there is, so far the Wii U always puts the most important information on the Gamepad if it isn't doubling whats on the TV. Is there something i should be selecting? Is there a install bar on there?
What can I do here? I have not seen an install screen on the gamepad so far, the download went fine from the internet apparently but I am still scared i might brick the machine if i turn it off now. I think i have clearly explained all the relevant information on this forum post.
Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Is it okay to restart the machine? I can wait until morning to call but if anyone has any insight right now that would be super helpful!
