As most people I purchased this Wii U and gave it to my son for Christmas. He also got all the new Skylanders and Skylander Giants for the Wii U. We are very excited to play this game together; however, only one of the normal Wii controllers will work. The other controller insist on being that stupid game pad.
Now I know the Wii U comes with the gamepad and that is supposed to be the reason to buy it; however, the only reason I bought the Wii U was because they discontinued Mario on the Wii and I did not want to buy a DS for the kid. Mario is the families favorite game and we play together. We also got it to play movies, etc so that mom and dad could move the blue-ray player into the bedroom and stream Netflix in the bed room with the old Wii. However; none of us have any desire to play a game using that controller. We all (2 sons + mom + dad) only want to use the normal controllers.
So the question is how can I play skylanders using just the normal controllers. The second player already gets this; however, the first player is being forced to be the gamepad.
I have already tried to go to the normal Wii menu with this; however, it didn't work because I specifically bought the Wii U version of skylander giants. All the controllers work. I have synced all of them to the console and have also tried syncing one to the console and one to the gamepad.
Please help as there should be no reason that I can't select the controllers to play this game; especially since the game shows compatibility with the Wii remote and numchuck.
I almost feel that the only fix for this nightmare is to now go purchase Skylanders for the Wii(not Wii U) and try to play it in compatibility mode after that. Please help... The main thing is that most of my family members have small hands, so playing on that game pad is very combersome. It also gets heavy when playing for long periods of time.
