My Wii U and specifically the Wii menu had been working perfectly with my Optoma HD20 projector before the 4.0 software update. The first time I tried to access the Wii menu after the 4.0 update the screen had a green tent and displays the error message "The Wii Menu could not be opened.". I called Nintendo tech support and they want me to send the Wii U in, but I think this is entirely related to the Wii U 4.0 update.
Are there any others having this issue with an Optoma projector or any other display for that matter? Are there any known workarounds?
This setup worked perfectly before the 4.0 update with no changes to the setup besides the new Wii U software. I have included a picture (horrible quality, but those are the colors that I see once the projector refreshes after starting the Wii menu....or attempting to start the Wii menu). This happens regardless of selecting the TV Only or TV+Gamepad with the Wii remote.
I have tried pressing the "Try Again" button many times on both the Wii remote and Wii U gamepad. I also tried lowering the resolution to 480p in the Wii U settings and it has the same error message, but it has the correct colors.
I can't be the only person having this problem! Is there a way to revert to a previous version of the Wii U software?
