Update after Update after Update..... does it ever end???

So, we just bought our WiiU three days ago. Guess what? I have no idea if it's fun or not. None. Why? Because after spending hours doing one update, then spending even more time trying to figure out the whole "easy as pie" Wii to WiiU transfer, and then waiting for it all to get done, and then spending more time trying to get my Nintendo Network ID to connect to everything - I think... Oh... yay! I'm done! I can PLAY a GAME now! Nope.....

Another update. It starts at 16 minutes, then graduates to 25 minutes...33 minutes....57 minutes....1 hour an 7 minutes.....1 hour and 19 minutes...1 hour and 31 minutes... 1 hour and 45 minutes.... 2 hours and 3 minutes..... *sigh* Now... 3 hours later, I'm down to 10 minutes, which has been stuck at "10 minutes" for over 20 minutes, and just now changed to 11 minutes.

I just want to play a game. That's all. Is this what I am to expect every time I pop a disc into the drive and launch it? Hours of updating? Being on shared Wifi REALLLLY sucks the fun out of this and convenience out of it all. I have been with Nintendo from day one, wayyyy back when they first arrived on the scene. I have spent much time shaking my head at PSP and Xbox for all their "required internet" shannanigans they pull on their customers. I upgrade to the WiiU after waiting out the standard one year for bugs to get worked out, and now I am met with three days of consistent hoop jumping - with zero game play time under my belt thus far. This is unacceptable.

So.... how many more hours of updating do I have to look forward to? Those who have had the WiiU for a while now, am I going to be encountering this daily, or each time I switch out game discs, or whenever is it a weekly thing? Am I just really unfortunate to have hit right in the middle of multiple updates on top of the standard one for new users? Please... please tell me this gets better and I didn't just dump $400 (added games and controllers) into a blackhole of constant updates.

-Disappointed and anxious
