I like many people on here bought a Wii U for a family Christmas present. I had trouble creating an ID and so I went online to find more info and found these forums. It is amazing how emotional and upset a lot of people are. This kind of stuff happens with technology guys. Does anyone recall the sony network hack which had a week long outtage plus a lot of personal data compromised? I keep reading statements like "they should have been prepared for this holiday volume" and "shame on them" but we don't know for certain exactly what is causing the outtage. As someone that works in tech I have seem a lot of outtages occur because of something as minute as a syntax error within a line of code.
A lot of people say that they understand technology breaks sometimes but they are so upset with how Nintendo is handling this. People are very upset they cannot email or get through on the phone. Do you honestly think someone staffed answering emails and phone calls is going to be able to make you feel better about the outtage? Wouldn't you be more frustrated waiting in a phone queue for 30 minutes just to be told "it is being worked on" and "we cannot give you a specific time"? What exactly could a Nintendo employee tell you that would make you feel any better right this moment while the system is down? Some say they want a free game code or some kind of appeasement. OK fair enough, but why do you expect that immediately right now? When a business has an issue of this magnitude, before being able to hand out free stuff for appeasements, a plan has to be created. A budget has to be approved for appeasements. A human being has to create it, estimate how many appeasements are needed, send to another human being for approval to send to a finance guy that might push back and ask for it to be changed etc...I know its 2013 and technology has made it so we expect everything we want when we want it but it doesn't work that way. Technology doesn't work sometimes. Information we want is not immediately available sometimes. Sometimes we just have to wait for stuff longer than we want.
