Can Nintendo change serial number of your console after repair?

Hi,
I'm having worst experience ever. I was among thouse who stood in line on Nov 18th last year to get Wii U on the date of its release. And it broke on me several days after my warranty expired. No grase period or anything like that, so I actually payed money for the repir and that's what I'm getting at...

I've recently received my Wii U from NOA's repair.

- my console got scrathes and glue that wasn't there (oily finger prints all over, and stichy surface, like there was some ducktape or glue)
- my console changed its serial number

I've send it back to Nintendo so they could at least clean it the way it was (I've send it clean and I got it back in glue and stuff... booo)

But when I asked in Nintendo support about the serial number the only explanation I got was that "Nintendo changed the serial number of your console".

Now I'm not a rocket sientist or console developer, but to my mind the serial nuumber of the product actually exist to clarify when, where and under what series the product was made. It sounds really suspecious that Nintendo would bother taking a serial number sticker off and puting a new one... And why would they?

In case they actually gave me somene else's console - why would they tell me that?

I loved Nintendo and I just hope that I am the only one experiensing these kind of problems. After this kind of treatment though, my trust is broke.
