Hello everyone!
My name is [Personal Information Removed] and i have always been a Nintendo fan. Making a retrospective I realized that at some point in my life I have always had the fortune to play on one of Nintendo's consoles. I didn't matter if I had to buy it or go to a friend's house in order to play my favorite games, I always liked Nintendo games more than others. Nowadays I own a Nintendo Wii U system and I'm really happy to have it because it not only allows me to play the excellent recent titles but it also takes me back to the past with awesome classics like F-zero and Zelda; however, thanks to intenet I've realized that Nintendo is having a hard time when selling this system; maybe because people can't see a good reason to buy it or (like in Colombia's case) It's not clear what the console is and what it offers.
I would like to discuss that as my first suggestion, but first, I also would like to point out that I'm not an expert in sales or marketing or anything like that. I'm just and English teacher who is trying to show his point of view as a Nintendo fan and cosumer.
So first: Here in Colombia, many people don't understand a gaming console as a "gaming console" but as a "nintendo" (That's it, it's a generic name and people know consoles as Nintendos). So it was natural for us to watch those awesome TV commercials about Wii like in the early 2000's. But I was surprised to know that Nintendo had released a new system after Wii and I hadn't realized! That was beacuse there were no TV commercials about it! At the beginnig I believed that a Wii U was only a gamepad with a touch-screen that was able to be connected to your existing wii console so I wasn't so enthusiastic about buying it; then, I knew it was a completely new console. So my suggestion is: please, don't forget Latin-America as a potential client for Nintendo. People don't know Wii U in here!
Second: Many people (not only in my country) still own Gamecube games but their console doesn't work anymore and at least people I know can't receive any support in order to repair it o whatever, so here I go: Wii U should have retro-compatibility with Gamecube games as well! It's just another way to catch up with people's desires. I'd get crazy If I had the opportunity to collect ALL Super Mario games in only one console and I'm sure a lot of people would feel the same. NOTE: This is basically the same reason for my next suggestion.
Third: People love classics (I'm sure you've realized about that thanks to the eShop). So, why not giving us the opportunity to purchase Nintendo 64 titles right out of your eShop! I mean, collectors (Like me) would love it.
Fourth: I've been reading and in many websites they highlight Nintendo 3DS as the best-seller console in 2013, and you don't need to be a genius to know that there are A LOT of people who already play on it, so: If people already owns a handheld console, why not awarding them with the posibility to connect it to the new console in the same way as a wii remote? I mean, using your 3DS (which you already own) as a controller takes the action to one more person in your family and would be great for games like Nintendo land, Wii party U and many others.
Fifth: I know that there are already in the market many devices to play DVD and Blu-Ray movies, but come on, people are sooooo lazy that they would prefer just playing them on their Wii U rather than setting up the TV in order to use their Blu-ray player. (Besides, Blu-ray players are not so popular in Latin-America). So that would be a nice feature to have on your system.
Sixth: Hey! have you noticed that people love social gaming? Yeah we love it! and you made an outstanding job with Nintendo Miiverse, but it still can be improved. It's great that you have to own a Nintendo console to sign in, because that way the site keeps its exclusive environment, but other people should also be allowed to read comments and opinions about games. I know that if you log into Miiverse using a smartphone or PC (Or even Wii U browser) you can share your Miiverse posts on Facebook adn Twitter but it would be great that you could actually link your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your Miiverse so that you don't have to use another browser to share your posts (Besides, you could improve the format in which Miiverse posts appear on the other social networks).
Well I think that's all for now. For some people my suggestions would sound unappliable or even lame. Well, as I said before, I've read a bit about the situation but I'm not an expert and I still believe that these things would help people gain a bit more interest in buying a Wii U. I hope you can take advantage of this post and please let's try to avoid destructive comments!
