Wii U will NOT let me play on computer monitor with both video and audio, but PS3 will.

Is there seriously no way to set the display and video signals separately? People have different setups in their home theater. Will there be an update for this?

The problem is, it seems, that the Wii U does not allow for separate video and audio settings, like the PS3 does. I wish I could use the HDMI for video and then use the RCAs to connect to the 3.5mm adapter I use.

No HDMI input on computer monitor.

Computer monitor inputs:
DVI
DSub
3.5mm audio

PS3 settings:
HDMI to receiver
HDMI / DVI adaptor (running from receiver to monitor)
3.5mm connector / component composite cable (running straight from PS3 to computer monitor 3.5mm audio input)

Wii U settings:
HDMI to receiver
HDMI / DVI adaptor (running from receiver to monitor)
(no sound passes through HDMI DVI adapter, disables surround sound speakers)

With the Wii U, when I turn the computer monitor off, I get sound through the receiver speakers. When the monitor is on it disables the speakers.

I am unable to play Wii U games with sound running through the monitor. I can get video OR audio, not both at the same time.

Is there a semi-cheap solution or cable? I am not in the position to buy another HDTV at this time (I moved overseas twice and had to sell BOTH TVs, one was 46" Pan Viera plasma 3dtv, the other was 50" Samsung plasma. Anyhow, a friend gave me this crummy computer monitor I'm using now.

Advice pretty please.
