Error Code 103-2001

So I was trying to play Mario Kart 8 online but for some reason my Wii U wasn't connected to the internet. Every other device in my house was working normally and I thought this was strange. Last Friday I wan't able to play online either so I put my console into DMZ using the steps provided by the support site. I mannually entered my IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and the DNS provided by support. Then  I proceded to put my console into DMZ. After this online worked like a charm I had absolutely no problems until now.

Note: Ealier today I performed the 5.0.0 U system update with no problems.

So after not being able to play Mario Kart 8 online today, I decided to perform a connection test through the system settings. The Wii U was able to connect to the access point but not the internet. Just to clarify I was not able to use any applications that require internet access. I performed various test and continuously got the 103-2001 error code wich says:

Situation:

  • Unable to connect to a wireless network.

  • This is most often caused by entering the incorrect wireless password into the Wii U connection settings. (It wasn't entered incorrectly, I was already connected before).

I deleted the connection settings and just entered the password of my network and it worked. The IP is auto obtained, and DNS too, those are the default settings after connecting to a network. So I thought maybe some setting in my router changed. Is that possible? So I decided to enter those things mannually again using the support steps. I have a PC with Windows 7, so I used "run>CMD". Everything seemed to be the same as the last time I entered them on my system. I was completely sure about Subnet Mask and Gateway but not the IPv4 which is (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to enter this kind of information so I'll use different numbers to explain the situation) 000.000.1.67 (the 0s are the other numbers). It says on the support site to add 10 to the IP address. So I should have entered it as 000.000.1.77. I did it like that but after performing the connection test, it failed (Yes, I did enter DNS as it says on support).

The weird thing is that last Friday I remember entering 000.000.1.67 on my Wii U; being 000.000.1.57 originally. Don't pay a lot of attention to this, maybe I got confused, but maybe it's possible that it changed? Because, why else would  my Wii U have disconnected from the internet? I restarted the system too but it didn't work.

Because I was able to use the Internet with the default settings (everything auto-obtained) I tried playing Worldwide with no results. I thought that maybe I could put my console into DMZ without entering the other things mannually, but in the steps provided by support say I need to.

What To Do:

  1. Assign a network IP address to your console. <----- This
  2. Access your router's settings.
  3. Locate the DMZ or "Demilitarized Zone" setting.
    • This is often located under an area within the router settings titled "Firewall," "Virtual Server," "Security," or "Applications and Gaming."
  4. Choose the option to enable this feature.
  5. Enter the IP Address assigned to your console into the designated area.
  6. Select the appropriate option within your router settings to "Save" or "Apply" the changes made.

Luckily, I was able to put my console into DMZ and played a few matches while taking the time to write this. Everything worked the same but I'm afraid it'll happen again, so I want to know what to do.

So...

Is it okay to use the DMZ setting without entering IP mannually?

Why would my console have disconnected from the internet?

Is it possible some router settings had/can change?

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, and thanks for taking your time to read this, I know it is a little confusing but I really need help knowing what happened.
