I finally got Hyrule Warriors in the mail earlier this week. (From Amazon, of course; I absolutely had to have the Twilight Princess costumes.) I've been experiencing some problems that have kept me from playing the game.
While in a battle, the item select screen keeps flashing/popping up. It does this repeatedly until you can't play the game anymore. It acts as though I keep touching the GamePad screen to select an item. But here's the thing -- I don't keep touching the GamePad screen. It just acts like it.
This is rather unfortunate because not only is it extremely annoying, but it also gets to the point where I can't play the game at all. And I love Zelda. It's very distressing not being able to play the new game I've been waiting for for ages.
You'd figure there would be a good reason for this mishap. My first thought was that I got a botched disc, which isn't completely impossible, considering it had been shipped from Amazon and shoved in my mailbox. So I went through the process of getting the game returned through Amazon, and then went to the store and bought another copy. That copy did the same exact thing. So it wasn't the disc; it had to be something else. My only other logical explanation is that there's something wrong with my GamePad.
I've had problems with my GamePad before. I got my Wii U for Christmas 2013, and on the second or third day I had it, a small crack showed up in the top right of the screen. While it didn't affect the performance of the GamePad, I didn't want any more scratches, so I bought a screen protector and put it on. The screen protector caused many problems; games/apps would start without me selecting them, and the ZR/save state menu would pop up by itself when playing Virtual Console games. These problems were all fixed by taking the screen protector off. I haven't had any problems since then. Until now.
The weirdest part is that no other games/apps are messing up; only Hyrule Warriors.
Sorry for telling my life story. I just haven't seen anyone else with this problem, so I figured I would give all the details since my situation is apparently unique.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will I have to buy a new GamePad? If so, how should I go about that? I have the Zelda edition Wii U, so I would be a little sorry to see my special GamePad be retired and start using a plain one. But if it has to happen, it has to happen.
