Posting for a friend of mine:
In Smash Bros Wii U he gets an error message "A Communication Error Has Occurred" every time he tries to connect online. There is no error code or any other information given. The error generally occurs shortly after he joins the game. He can generally pick a character and select a stage before he's kicked from the game. This happens every single time, and is not sporadic.
Things we've tried:
- Forwarding all necessary router ports
- Setting NAT to "Open"
- Power-cycling router
- Whitelisting MAC address
Things we still need to try:
- Going online using browser
- Resetting Wii U to factory default and re-downloading all updates
Nothing seems to work - and I can't find any similar cases online. Does anyone have experience with a similar problem?
