I'm likely getting a Wii U in a couple weeks, and I've read that it features a sandboxed, Wii Mode for backwards compatibility. I'm aware that Nintendo has an official transfer tool migrating save data from the original Wii to Wii U, however I do not wish to have the information wiped from the old console. Now before going any further, I have no purchased games stored on this Wii presently. I am only talking about moving save data and Mii's. The biggest reason I'm so redundant about having save information deleted is because some of the games I play allow use of the Gamecube controller. Mostly for Super Smash Bros Brawl and Sonic Colors. I know there is an adapter, but it's somewhat costly. Alternately I could grab a HORI Battle Pad (which I very may do anyways for Wii U games that accept Pro controller).
So is there any way this can be done, or must all saved information be wiped in order for transfer? Also on a side note, I'm assuming I can use the Wii's component cables on the U?
