Questions before buying a Wii U

Greetings,

When I was a teenager, I used to have a Super Nintendo, wich on my opinion was the best console ever created. (Nowadays I still play super mario world, zelda and mostly rock and roll racing / mario kart with my 'retro' friends).

Now I'm whilling to buy a Wii U instead of the other high end consoles, mostly because I love the nintendo exclusive games and I think that nintendo still the Only company who actually have a focus on local offline multiplayer.

I do live in Brazil, and every imported item is very expensive, so before putting a lot of money (around 900 USD) on the console (without counting with extra controller and games), I would like to make a few questions (sorry, didn't found anyone using wii u around to ask).

1- Online Store:

  • Can I buy digital copy of games (download) from Brazil? Is the store locked to U.S. and Canada only? Where can I see the store and prices?
  • For Registering at club.nintendo.com I had to use a fake address from US, I'm a bit concerned with this... (I know, I lied on registration, but for a good reason, please don't deactivate my account yet) (also buying games with real money, thinking that my account can be deactivated at any time is sad)
  • Buying a wii u in Brazil means 'only' allowed to buy physical games cds/dvds/other, without any support?

2- Support, warranty and replacement

  • I'm not really counting with warranty, but just wondering, if my Wii U's wireless stops working on the 3rd month of usage where should I send my Wii U?
  • If my console breaks, catch fire or get stolen, Is it simple to transfer account and digital purchases to a new console? I've heard that everything is tied to the console and not your account, is this true? actually this is my biggest concern: buying a lot of digital content and loosing it somehow ( I love nintendo games, but I still love my hard-earned money)

3- Where to buy a Nintendo Wii U console???

  • Seriously, I've been digging on the biggest stores in Brazil, online and offline and I couldn't find any Wii U being sold, most of them sells only a few wii u games and the consoles are marked as out of stock
  • The only place that I could find a Wii U console was at mercadolivre (like a Brazilian version of ebay), know for being used by individual importers that sell stuff over there.
  • Knowing that I will have to buy a console from an unknown store, should I check for any kind of region lock? wich is the correct region for brazil?

Please don't get me wrong, I would love to buy a Nintendo Wii U and be back to this great system, I just wanna know if I'm doing the right thing despite all the risks.

Thank you
