Wii U Wired Ethernet connection to PC. Is it possible?

Hello everyone,

I live in a basement apartment and the owner of the house keeps the Wi-Fi Router upstairs.  I get good signal on my PC and my PS3 from down here.  I can connect my Wii U wirelessly to the router with no problems.  I can download files over the Wii U excellently and the Wii U says I have good signal strength.

My problem comes from trying to play online with a wireless connection.  Mario Kart 8 keeps disconnecting when I try to play online with other people around the world.  My Super Smash Brothers Wii U online matches are always pausing to load.

After hours of researching this issue, I can only assume that the distance between the router and my Wii U is too great and causing a connection issue.  I've heard rumors that the Wii U's wifi is not very powerful and requires to be in close proximity to a router for a good connection.

I cannot move the Wii U or router closer to each other.

I've heard that creating a wired connection solves the issue.

What I'm trying to see is if I can share my PC's wireless internet with the Wii U via an ethernet cable.

I have the official Wii U LAN adapter. I have it plugged into the back of the Wii U.  I have a crossover ethernet cable connecting the Wii U LAN adapter to the ethernet port on my PC.

I go to my adapter settings on my PC, right click the wireless adapter, then choose the option to share the internet connection.  I have set all connections to obtain all IP and DNS addresses automatically.  This should allow most devices connected to the ethernet slot to use my internet connection on the PC.  However, when I go to set up the Wired Internet connection on the Wii U, it cannot recognize the PC.

Is there something I am missing?  Is this even possible?  What are your suggestions?  Thank you in advance!

P.S.

I've also tried the whole schpeal where you go into ipconfig on my PC, put the ip address of into the Wii U settings and defaulting a DNS config.  I've also tried bridging my wireless connection and LAN adapter with no success.
