Hello. I purchased my Wii U on launch day and did the transfer and the major Day One update and all and it it has been working fine. I had not turned it on the past few days bc I was busy so it set turned off for days. I turned it on last night and it seemed to have no problems. However, the battery was low on the gamepad. It seems to get low quickly sometimes and even when not used. (Any ideas why that is so?) Anyway, I had already selected for the Wii U to go to Amazon Instant Video. I plugged in the gamepad while it was loading. Then the screen went black and so did the gamepad. I hit the Home button several times and it did nothing. I powered the gamepad off and on and it did nothing. The only thing that would come on the gamepad was the tv remote. I tried to power off the Wii U by holding in the buttons (I checked all through the troubleshooting in the manual) and it would not turn off, at all. I tried unplugging the hdmi and putting it back in. It did not work. It even flashed between a black screen and snow and for a moment said it was not supported.I finally, after trying to look it up on the internet, just unplugged the Wii U for a few seconds bc I felt I had no other option. The gamepad immediately let me know that the connection was unstable (first image it showed other than the remote) and then that it was disconnected. I plugged it back in and turned it on. It worked fine. I then watched an entire movie on Amazon Prime without any problems. I wanted to write it on here though bc I have no idea what happened. It had not done that before and I do not understand why it would not power off at all. I do not want to damage my system. So, please help me if you have an idea of why it would have done that and if I need to contact someone further about it. Thank y'all for any and all help.
