I find this completely in-excusable. I understand having your Nintendo ID tied to a single system, but you should be able to deactivate it and transfer it to a new system just like we can with our Xbox Live accounts. I bought a Wii U on release day it had issues and went into brick mode within the first 30 days. I returned it for a refund. I bought another Wii U this weekend only to discover that my Nintendo ID and the funds tied to that account are now lost in never never land with the dead Wii U. Nintendo needs to address this extremely poor oversight ASAP. This in itself might cause me to abandon Nintendo as a viable platform.
