Ok, so here's my problem. Recently, the Wii won't read Xenoblade Chronicles. I know it isn't the disc because I've tried having the disc read on other Wii's and there has been no problem with those. So I thought about sending in the Wii for repairs, but then I realized that I could just transfer everything over to a Wii U if I buy one. I've always planned on buying a Wii U at some point so I guess I'll do that soon.
But I do have a few concerns over the Wii to Wii U transfer. My first concern is the data being transferred has to be on the source Wii console. I moved most of my save files onto my SD card and then I copied them onto the Wii system memory. All the save files are the same, I haven't made any progress on any of my games after backing up the save files. If I delete all the data from my SD card to make room for the transfer, would the copies of those files on the Wii system memory still count as "source Wii files"?
My second concern is that I stored all the virtual console games that I purchased onto my SD card as well. The reason I did this was that the Wii doesn't have enough system memory to store all the virtual console games. But I read about the transfer and it said everything has to be in the Wii system memory when doing the transfer. So if I'm not able to transfer all the virtual console games, will I be able to somehow re-download the games to the target Wii U after the transfer by accessing my Wii Shop Channel account on the Wii U?
