I understand why the problem is how it is; we had downloaded multiple VC titles for our original Wii console, one of them being Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
When the Wii U rolled around, we decided that we should port our memory over, for the sake of not having to play Brawl and Skyward Sword and so on all over from the beginning again. We transfered the data using the tool the Wii U provided for us, and everything was just fine, everything was transferred, all good.
But, when I tried to boot up some of our VC on the Wii U through the Wii Menu channel, it said I needed the Classic Controller.
Okay, no big deal. We always played the VC with the gamecube controllers on the original Wii, so we decided we'd just move the data onto an SD card and slap that bad boy into the original Wii again.
Now here is where the problem lies.
Since WiiWare and VC are locked with the original Wii console they are downloaded on, they aren't allowed to be played on any other Wii consoles. Since we transferred our original Wii data, VC and all, to the Wii U, now that data is locked with the Wii U's in-console Wii.
Bit frustrating, but that's no problem as long as I can download it from the original Wii's Wii shop channel, right?
Nope.
All that information, downloaded titles and Wii points and all, have also been transferred to the Wii U's Wii. So now, I'm stuck with at least 50 dollars worth of games that are unplayable just rusting on the Wii U's Wii, with no option but to buy a Classic Controller for more money.
Which, understandably, I'm not willing to do. I bought those games under the impression I'd be playing them with the gamecube controller, but now they demand more money to be forked over in order to play the mass of VC that we transferred.
So, my question is,
is there any way I can access my VC data on the original Wii again?
because I really want to play The Legend of the Seven Stars.
and I don't want to go out and buy a Classic Controller.
Thank you.
