Gamepad connectivity issues

Hey all,

A couple of weeks ago, my gamepad suddenly lost its connection to the console while using it, and since then I haven't been able to get a stable connection between my gamepad and the console.  This only happens when I use it at my dorm; it works perfectly when I use it at home, which suggests that interference is the problem (my phone picks up about 5 Wi-Fi signals in the area), but I think there might also be something wrong with the hardware.  Here's why:

- I used it in my dorm without any issues for about 3 weeks before I encountered the problem. As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any change in the Wi-Fi networks in the area.

- The amount of time I can use the gamepad without losing connection is proportional to the amount of time I haven't been using it, i.e. if I've left it alone for 1 hour - 2 days, I can use the gamepad for about 5 minutes without any problems.  However, once it disconnects after that 5 minute period, I can't get it to reconnect to the console at all unless I wait for at least 10 minutes.

- After the gamepad disconnects, it won't reconnect from any range - even if it's sitting on top of the console.  Additionally, it will periodically reconnect to the console for a split second every 5 seconds or so.

Some other things I've tried:

- Moving the console to another area of my dorm room doesn't seem to change anything; neither does using a different power outlet.  I've also tried placing it in an open space in the middle of the room, as well as in the corner of the room, right next to the window - no change.

- I've been checking for any sources of Bluetooth signals as well as Wi-Fi, but again, I'm not convinced this is entirely due to interference.

- Replugging in the gamepad battery made no difference.

So my question to you guys is, does this sound like an interference problem, or is something wrong with my gamepad/console and I should get it repaired? Or is there something I haven't thought of trying that might make a difference?

Major thanks,

Smerchy

TL;DR: My gamepad constantly disconnects from the console, regardless of how close to the console I am.  However, this only occurs at my dorm (worked fine for first 3 weeks in the dorm); it works perfectly fine at home.  Is there anything I can do to fix this or should I send it in for repairs?
