I used to leave the sleep mode on my Wii U turned off, but due to the new quick start menu that requires it, I had to reactivate it, and I set it to update every 24h. The problem is that regardless of this schedule, the console briefly turns its SpotPass function on right after you shut it down, which seems redundant to me and might cause unnecessary HDD fatigue. I would like to know if there's any workaround to prevent this unwanted SpotPass scan after you shut it down.

Just adding that I use an external HD, and it kinda concerns me that the console turns it on and off all the time.
