question about Wii U data transfer

I know I will be able to transfer my Wii save data, etc. over to my Wii U Deluxe. and understand it will essentially format my Wii in the process.  However, one thing the instructions did not mention was whether Message Board data from the Wii will transfer to the Wii U.  I would hate to lose all those nice messages I acquired over the last 6 years...
