Long story short: I got a wii u and a LAN Adapter, i connected too miiverse and the internet browser which worked fine but when i tried to play Super Smash Bros Wii U online i got the 118-0516 error. I looked it up and it wants me to open some ports 1- 65535 to be exact. " 4. Enter the starting port and the ending port required for the console being used. For titles published by Nintendo, you will need to forward UDP ports 1 through 65535. 5. Set the protocol to "UDP." "
I tried to portforward these ports but i cant for some reason, it says "cant apply services to *WiiU-LAN-Adapter*" (*Gave my device that name) ((Rough translation from swedish)). So searched the internet for some answers and saw people saying that their routers cant open all those ports at the same time and got the ports 80, 443, 6667, 12400, 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920 from a guy on one of the forums stating "thats the ports nintendo seems to be using", So this time i tried to only open these ports and it would actually let me open the ports but when i tried to connect online i got the same error message. I disabled the firewall in an desperate final attempt but to no use...
Basicly it seems impossible from my viewpoint but thats why i post this on the forums right?
It really bothers me that my Wii U games look so washed out compared to my Xbox 360 and PS3, which both support full RGB. I realize that not all HDTV's can display the full RGB range but for those of us that do have compatible sets it makes a world of difference. Is there a fix or system update coming that will address this issue?
Thank you.
I have an extremely peculiar problem with three consoles I own. I have 2 Wii Us (one at my house and the other at my dad's apartment) and a Wii. Very recently, abut two weeks ago, they all developed a problem with spontaniously turning off by themselves. It happpens almost every time I play on them. I know it has nothing to do with Wii U's auotmatic power-down feature because I know I turned that setting off off both Wii Us, and this problem always happens in the middle of playing a game. I also no it has nothing to do with one particular game becuase this has happened while playing various games on each system. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening on all three sytems I own other than sheer coincidence or the possibiity of there being a bug in Nintendo's servers. If anyone else is also experiencing this problem or knows why it's happening and how to fix it, please let me know.
I've had my Wii U since Christmas 2012 and have never had issues with it though I can't recall ever playing a Wii game on it in the past. I've been trying to play several Wii games and every time I attempt to start a game, the screen goes black, the remotes power down and the Wii U freezes up. Holding down the power button won't even turn it off, the only thing that can be done to reset it is to unplug it from the wall. Pls help.
I purchased my wii u a little over one year ago, and my gamepad's gyroscope seems to have died. No movement left/right is detected, and up/down is very wonky and sporadic. Playing splatoon is impossible. Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
The model of the system is the New Super Mario Bros U + New Super Luigi U deluxe bundle, purchased sometime in July of last year. I had registered it under Club Nintendo, so I should still be under warranty since Club Nintendo offers extended warranty.
My questions are:
Do I still qualify for a free repair or replacement?
What is my next step? Should I call nintendo's hotline, or just go ahead and schedule a repair?
When I do send it in, what exactly should be inside the package I send?
Thanks!

It is rather sad that in 2015, we even need to have to post to the forums about this issue, because internet connections are so simple on other devices. And up until yesterday, it was simple for my Wii U as well.
I live in a hotel for business, and to use the free hotel wifi, we open up a browser on our devices and simply enter the passcode on the pop-up screen. The log in is semi-permanent, you dont have to use it again unless you disconnect or the power goes out.
The Wii U has NO trouble finding the room's router, and never has. Up until the most recent system update (which may be a few weeks old, as I have not powered up my Wii U since before Super Mario Maker came out), all I needed to do was open up the Wii U internet browser and everything was automatic - enter the password, boom. Im online and ready to play Mario Kart, Smash Bros, etc.
I get the new update downloaded, installed, and was planning to go back online and buy Super Mario Maker. No such luck. The router is easy to connect to, as usual. But the web browser never loads anything and refuses to open the hotel's wifi connection page. I even followed all of the critical steps posted in the forums about going in and manually setting up the IP address, etc. Still nothing. Just error code 112-1006.
Every other device in this place easily finds and connects to the internet. My PC. My cellphone. My Playstation 4. But nothing Nintendo will connect. It seems like after the update, all possible methods of connecting to the internet died along with any chance of purchasing Super Mario Maker via digital download.
Does anyone else have this issue since the update and does anyone else have to connect to the internet via the web browser?
Alright so I was super excited to play Super Mario Maker. I mean I really, really, anticipated the game. So after messing around I decide to upload my own course and I get an error message saying Miiverse Functions are unavailable on this console. I remember my cousins using the Wii U and console banning me off of miiverse around the beginning of the year and I didn't see it as that big of a loss because I didn't really use it myself. Now knowing that Miiverse is required to upload levels Super Mario Maker I feel like I've been cheated for spending $60 on a new copy. Did I just get ripped off or is there a way to upload or get un-console banned off of miiverse?
Hello, when I first got the Wii U, my father named my NNID account clanH5. I didn't really care at first, but now I see how big the NNID service has gotten, and I don't like that name. I recently made a second account with my desired name, Brocoee, but soon after, I realized there is no way to transfer purchases and data from one account to the other. Also, my clanH5 account is linked to my new 3ds xl majoras mask edition, and I can't transfer the ID to my old 3ds because they aren't compatible. I just desperately want the 2 names swapped, that way I can have my newly desired name on the same account that has all my valuable purchases and data. (gameplay logs, exclusive downloads, etc.) Is there any way the staff could access this information and switch the two names? I know I seem like a bother but it would REALLY make me glad. Please please help me, I can safely provide any information you need on either account, in case you need proof of ownership. Thankyou for reading!
Cant play mario maker when I have my external hard drive connected it get the error code: 160-2713 every time now it was working on saturday morning but today it doesnt want to work while my external is on ive tried other games I have in Disc format and they work fine. Ive also tried my games ive have in my external and they work fine too is their something technically wrong or was there a update that mest up or is it a glitch? and so what can i do to fix this problem or is it the game Disc?
My boyfriend and I got the Nintendo Wii U 32GB Console Premium Bundle + Splatoon yesterday. We were really excited to set everything up and get playing--but the system wouldn't let us go past the "Set Time" screen. We rebooted everything, went through the same settings until we reached the "Set Time" screen before it froze again. After several tries, we gave up.
I've seen a lot of people having problems with their Wii U freezing, but I've never come across stories about it freezing during the first set-up. Are we the only one here? I've tried again today, but no luck. It keeps freezing at the same point.
I really don't know what to do. We were really looking forward to it, it cost a lot of money, and now this. There's also no way of telling whether it's the Wii U console itself that causes the problem, or the gamepad. We're probably going to return it to the shop and ask for a new Wii U, but it really really sucks.
Hello all,
I bought the Wii U basic on launch day and preformed a Wii to Wii u system transfer, and everything went well, so I had all my Wii save data on my SD card. A while back around May 2014 my Wii U was having issues (blinking red light) and I sent it in to nintendo repairs. It was noted that I should take everything out the Wii U including the SD card before sending it in. Only until now I bought an very old wii game and wanted to play it, I put it in my Wii u (with the SD card) and all my Wii saves are gone, but I still have a Virtual Console game on there, but not my original Wii saves which is weird. I can only blame myself because I really didnt check everything once I got my Wii U back, only thing I checked where my Wii U saves which were all still there.
The only explanation I can think is maybe the blinking red light caused the deleting of my save data (which sounds a little redundant lol) or just me sending in my Wii U. One thing I did try is put my SD in my computer to see if there is something on there and there is a wii folder that was creadted 11/18/2012, so I am hoping thats my save data.
I emailed nintendo cause I can't call them at the moment since its late. So I am turning to the fourms to see if anyone else had this type of problem or knows a soultion, if not then I can accept the fact my saves are gone. Thanks.
My 2nd Main Problem Is sometimes the touch screen acts very weird in mario maker only
please help
Hi all,
Is anyone else experience their Wii U gamepad making a rattling noise when they shake it? My rattle is coming from the right side (around the right joystick / stylus storage) area.
I took out the stylus pen and I still have a rattle. The gamepad still works properly. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this too.
Thanks,
Babber
Up until a month ago the wii u worked perfect, but after that the wii u gamepad will not turn on.
The official charger has the green light showing, saying the gamepad is charged but the gamepad simply won't turn on.
Any ideas?
How would I contact nintendo for a replacement or repair? I don't see their number or email anywhere.
Thanks
Dear Nintendo Tech Support,
There is an urgent matter that has popped up that you must look into address as soon as possible. I have heard reports that there are players who have hacked Splatoon and is using Octoling and Hyrda Splating, two unreleased features. Unfortunatley, playing against hackers and having their Octoling appear in your plaza makes the game soft-lock and corrupts people's saves.
http://squidboards.com/threads/just-met-a-hacker-online-who-used-octoling-and-hydra-splatling.8588/
Apparently right now the only solution is to back up a save to a USB drive, and if you get affected you have to wait on the next Splatfest for the plaza to be reset. There needs to be a patch/solution to prevent people from getting corrupted by playing against hackers.
I bought Mario Maker for my son. He played it a few times and suddenly it did not let him save anymore. It says "There is a problem with the system momroy or USB storage device. Error code 160-4712. It is on a USB storage device, but no other games are having this issue. When I try to move it to a different storage device I get the same error message, but I could move other data files. My only other option is to delete his data and start over on a different storage spot, but he doesn't want to lose his progress. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution or is my game flawed?
Alright, So, i've been hearing ALOT on miiverse and other sources about a Splatoon hacker who has been using an octoling, ah "hydra splatling", and is soft-locking peoples games untill a splatfest, and sometimes it erases all data? I've also heard the name begins with K and has lots of numbers, Anyone know if this is true? Please respond. and if it IS true. Could nintendo push out a patch quick? I'm actually afraid to go on splatoon, knowing there might be a hacker out, to destroy all game saves.
Hello all, today my wii u gamepad started openning the home button by itself. like if i was pressing the home button and closing the menu real quick.
anyone having this issue?
any way to get it fix?
I bought Super Mario Maker on day one, and received an update. I've heard this update is supposed to remove the 9 day wait, but I am still required to wait until the next day to unlock new items. I don't have time to play everyday, maybe once or twice a week. It's taking forever to unlock the objects I want to make the levels I want. So far I am on the 4th day. I've tried deleting the update data and redownloading the update, but that has not helped. I've booted up from Wii U menu rather than quick start menu and that also doesn't solve the issue. I have unplugged the Wii U and plugged it back in, nothing seems to get the update to be applied, although the title screen says version 1.10, which is higher than the 1.01 whichremoved the 9 day wait for 15 minute waits.
