Wii U Gamepad acts like it's out of range in the same room

I don't know how else to explain it other than my gamepad is acting up like it's not connected to the Wii U properly. It doesn't flatout give me the message saying the gamepad is out of range, but the image on the screen looks like it's skipping. It's very hard to play a game off the TV like this because it can stop for a second and then when it comes back something different is on the screen. I've tried restarting the console and that doesn't work. What else can I do to fix this? I'm afraid to send it in because it's a Wind Waker gamepad and I don't want to get a regular one back by some chance.

Disc noise and audible click when powered off?

Hello everyone! Hoping someone can help shed some light on this issue. Whenever I power off my Wii U, I can hear a fairly loud click as soon as the disc stops spinning. It only happens when there is a disc in the console and when it stops spinning and powers off. It turns off silently when there is no disc inside.

Besides that, everything with the console fuctions perfectly and I have had no issues. I'm just wondering if I should be concerned because I have never heard this noise with other Wii U's when they power off. Just want to make sure nothing is going to potentially break.

External Hard Drive not working with Wii U?

$

0

I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me. Recently I started running low on available data on my Wii U's hard drive and I resolved to buy an external drive to free up some data space.

Here is the hard drive that I bought --> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E3RH5W2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

I've seen other, similar topics on the forums, and the first thing people ask is whether or not it is externally powered, or if it is bus powered (powered by the Wii U itself through the USB port). I can assure you that this item is powered externally via an adapter and plug, and is NOT powered through the Wii U. Please don't suggest that I get a Y cable or something because I do not see how that could possibly help. Furthermore, I remember being directed to this product from this page --> http://kotaku.com/the-best-external-hard-drives-for-your-wii-u-1616444509, which stated that this item was officially endorsed for use with the Nintendo Wii U by the folks at Nintendo itself.

However, since plugging it into the Wii U, I can't seem to get the system to even recognize that an external hard drive is plugged in. I have tried to format it by going through the following menu options:

System Settings >> Data Management >> Format USB Storage Device

It then brings up a screen that reads "This will format the USB storage device so that it can be used with this console. Please note that this will delete all data currently saved to the USB storage device."

Sounds promising. The device is brand new, so the data thing is not a problem. I hit (A) to go to the next screen.

The next screen reads "Ensure that the USB storage device is the only one connected to the console and then hit next"

There are no other storage devices connected, and, in fact, I have specifically unplugged ALL OTHER USB DEViCES (such as controllers) to make sure the process isn't interfered with. I hit (A) to go to the next screen.

The next thing it does is, on the gamepad (note: the TV has read to proceed with the setup using the Wii U gamepad for the whole process, btw), a window appears.

The window reads "Checking USB storage device..."There is also a spinning 'loading' wheel and a button that reads "Cancel."

However, there is no other loading bar or percentage number or any other indication that any sort of progress is being made. It gets stuck on this screen and it goes no further. In fact, it got stuck on the screen for so long the first time I tried it, that the Wii U turned itself off after a full hour of nothing getting done.

I have seen other forum posters (ex: the first guy to reply on this post --> http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/149844) say that the process can sometimes take a while (though most have reported that it took no longer than 20 minutes in their cases). In those cases, they were talking about a 1TB drive and this is a 2 TB drive, so I might expect it to take a BIT longer, but certainly not a full hour.

I have since turned the power saver function off. The system no longer automatically shuts down after an hour. However, it still cannot seem to recognize the external hard drive is even there. As far as I can tell, I have done everything right and I still cannot get past the "Checking USB storage device..." window.

Can anybody help me? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there an alternate way to go about this? I already spent a good hundred on this hard drive and I really don't want to spend any more than that (I will if I absolutely HAVE to, but it'd be a major pain). Please help if you can.

Thanks!

Error 160-0103, Wii U totally BRICKED - ALL Wii U games Don't Work!

Dear Sir/ Madam

I would like to report a problem and request a solution.

Since last Monday, after download and update of indie games Rush and Toki Tori 2+, I can't play anymore none of my wii u games.

Every time that I try to open a software, anyone game from Wii U memory or USB external pen drive, even CD media game, I have BLACK SCREEN ERROR 160-0103.

I've tried to solve the problem uninstalling and reinstalling all the games, but it is not working. The problem occurs with all softwares of all users.

Only the tools Friends List, Miiverse, Nintendo Eshop, Internet, Nintendo TVii, Notifications and Downloads are working. The links Health and Security, Parental Control, Wii U Chat, Configurations, Mii Creator are working too. Oddly, the "channel" Wii and all its games that I've transferred with transfer tool are working without problem as well.

At night when the problem occurred (in the last night from Monday to Tuesday), there was a storm. I thought that at the moment that Wii U was ''cleverly'' downloading contents Rush and update of Tori Toki 2+) by wifi connection, maybe the connection had failed, because of this. Maybe the connection has become unstable and therefore automatically corrupted some files, I’m not sure.

We’ve spent about $3.000 by purchasing the console and a lot of games with 2 Nintendo Network IDs (list of our games above). Thus, we are afraid and unhappy to know that reports of this same problem have been occurring for more than six months, by other users as well, and, however, there is no update for this so far.

Many users report that the problem could have been caused by Smash Bross game. Nevertheless, we never had, neither played this game.

So, we request the resolution of this problem by the Nintendo.

We look forward to your guidance on the procedures for resolution.

Sincerely yours,

Wii U HDMI Output

Be darned if I can find anywhere whether the HDMI connector on the WII U is standard size, like on back of my Samsung TV, or the mini size

I know it comes with the cable, but it will be tons easier for me to simply unplug the HDMI from my DirectTV and use Component Video for DirecTV, which is already hooked up, and plug that hdmi from Directv box into the wii U.

if I use the included cable, first-I don't know its length, (also cannot find that spec anywhere), but more significiantly is whats involved in getting behind my tv to change the cable.

If the WII U hdmi is 'standard', not mini or micro, it will be a breeze, is best way to put it.

Please enlighten me. Only picture I have seen is on QVC and it shows the hdmi cable as being standard at one end, and mini at the other. At least it looks that way.  Idon't plan to buy thier huge bundle, for some $500, but the $299 32GB console that comes with some Mario and a few other thiings, from Best Buy

Thanks for any input.

Cheers

Controller Charging

$

I read somewhere that the WII U controller only lasts about 4-5 hours.  I guess they are talking about the controller wwith the screen.  All of this stuff is very confusing to a 'new' customer, who was a NES, SNES guy many many years ago, but...not since

One has to assume it comes with a charger, though I have not seen that listed anywhere.

I have a AC cord hidden in my sofa cushions and just keep my Kindle Fire plugged into it, so it never drains.

My question is, can I do the same thing with this WII U controller.  4-5 hours is not very adequate, but livable. But would be nice just to keep it plugged in, like I do my Kindle.  Doable?

Thanks

Volume on Controller?

Just bought the Wii U, took some time to get it all figred out, well hardly all,, but at least I have started playing Zelda after buying it.

My first question is, is there a way to mute the volume on the controller, the controller which has a screen.  I see no reason for it at all unless I am not using the tv to play

Can I turn this down, or preferably off?  Have looked thru a lot of settings but not found anything

Thanks

Wii U Downloads incredibly slow; anybody know how to fix this?

Alright so I went to speedof.me and tested my Wii U's download speeds, it's an absolutely awful 350kb/s, my regular internet on my computer runs at 25mbps, I've been tryng to figure out how to at least gain some respectable download speeds because it took me 5+ hours to download the 1GB Launch Update and it's taken me almost the whole day to download the Sonic Transformed demo.

I put my Wii U's IP Address (In DHCP it said it was 2.4, I made it 2.14 in my Wii U) and set up a DMZ as well, but still the speeds are abysmal at best. I set it at the optimal MTU Value as well and turned off all devices that used the WiFi, it only increased the kbs by 20, which is not even close to a fix.

I believe that this is also affecting the downloading and recognization of WaraWara Plaza and Miiverse as well, does anyone have any tips on how to increase my download speeds on the Wii U?

I'm using a Belkin F9K Router btw.

Two Consoles in same room

Hi, kids really want a Wii U for Christmas, but are at the stage where they play different games. If we bought 2 consoles and hooked them up to the same TV, would they work at the same time? Obviously, at least one of the kids would be using the hand control only, but would the two sets of wifi signals with two identical consoles intefere with each others controls? I don't really want to buy two consoles, only to find we can only use one. They would definitely need to be set up in the same room. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks

Error downloading game from the Eshop

Hello.

I have a problem with downloading Fatal Frame 5 on my Wii U. I just can't seem to finish downloading the game, which I've tried about 6-7 times already, and fails almost at the same point too.

After downloading 5GB+ of game data, I always get the error code 108-0084, followed by the error code 108-0105, which says the downloaded data is corrupted and I have to delete and redownload again.

I looked up the 0084 error code and it says "The Nintendo eShop is currently unavailable. Please try again later.". How is this even possible?

Any solution would be great. Thanks in advance.
