Wii U Orange Light Freeze

I've had this problem happen 4 times overthe course of a year and 5 months with my Wii U since buying it. You know how the Power Light is normally Red, but will turn Orange/Yellow when the Wii U is doing something in Standby Mode? For me, on four different occasions, the Power Light has turned Orange/Yellow and stayed Orange/Yellow. When I tried to turn on the Wii U, the Power Light will turn Blue, but the Wii U itself will not start. The fan nor the Disc Drive will make a sound. The Wii U will sound as active as it was when it was turned Off, with the exception being that now the Orange/Yellow Light is Blue. To fix the problem, I have to physically unplug the Wii U from the back. Holding the Power Button down for 10 seconds does nothing. After replugging the Wii U, the Power Light will be Red and the console will resume functioning as normal.

 

The first three times, I was unsure why this was happening. However, the 4th time, I think I was able to narrow it down. The Wii U has done this when the console has a pending update to install. The 3rd time this happened back in  November, I had Mario Kart 8 data that had been downloaded, but not installed and last night, there was the 1.1.5 Smash Bros update.

 

I'm not sure if this is the exact cause, but I'm positive it's related to Standby Mode Downloads.

 

My Wii U console is updated with the latest software, so I know it isn't due to a console update.

I emailed Nintendo about about a problem I was having with my Wii U. I later checked my gmail and got an email saying that Nintendo got my question and that I would get a response shortly. How much time is that exactly? I'm relatively new to this kind of stuff and it's my first time emailing Nintendo. I don't really know what will happen next. Will I receive another email from Nintendo Support so I can talk to a person working there via email?

Hello,

 

Anyone having issues with the fishing pole? I cant catch any fish! Nothing happens when the pole is on the water!

I already try everthing and appears that its a very rare bug =/

Wii U scratching disks on top layer.

My Wii U been scratching the top part of my disks. I called Nintendo and the guy gave me the run around. He seem to ignore the part my games work and that they are getting damage by playing them. He told me to use a wash clothe to clean the disk to see if it works or test it on another wii u. I told him the problems not the disks. It's the system. He then told me to check the data storage. I was very mad at this point.  I want to post images of my game disks like Smash Bros.,Mario Kart 8 or Hyrule Warriors. The system scratching the paint off. Now I have to pay Nintendo for repairs because a defective console. I been a Nintendo consumer for 20 years and I feel like Video games are getting harder to fix and systems a are breaking down easily. Wii U might be my last Nintendo console and I probably go back to the NES. I shouldn't have this problem. I always defended Nintendo but now I am starting to feel mistreated. I just want to enjoy the games without forking out more money then needed.

Is it possible to use a Gamepad without a battery?

I actually tried disconnecting the battery, connecting the charging-cable. and surprise, it doesn't work. The Gamepad's power-LED blinks red rapidly but can't turn the Wii U on.

Twilight Princess

Hi, everyone...I'm trying to play Twilight Princess (the original Twilight Princess) on the Wii mode of my Wii U. The only problem is, the game seems a lot blurrier than I remember it being, and the screen has a strange staticy look to it. At first, I thought it might've been because I was playing with an HDMI cable, but then I went into the settings and switched to composite and now the blur looks even worse.

 

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a normal thing to have happen? And is it the console that's making the game look like this, or is it possible it's my TV?

    I downloaded this game today, and whenever I load it, it freezes up on the menu screen and buzzes. I have already tried deleting it and redownloading it.

Backup and restore save data

Hi all,

 

Yesterday my four year old sun deleted all save data of a Wii U game, and I lost save data of a game with 50+ more ours of game time.

I know he should not play alone etc etc, but even if you sit next to it, these things can happen with little kids.

Thats why I started thinking  about backing up save games.


On the nintendo website I found an article about backing up data: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2865/~/how-to-back-up-save-data

 

I inserted a USB drive, formatted and followed the guide to game data (copy, not move) to my USB device.

After that I removed a save entry from Super Mario 3D , and after that I followed the same steps to Restore Game data from USB to the same Wii U device.

Unfortunately the test entry which I had removed from Super Mario 3D has not come back after the restore.

 

That makes me wonder, if it is even possible to restore save games from USB, on the SAME Wii U device ?

Or did I do something wrong ?

Tighten your Wii U Gamepad battery cover without a screwdriver

Has you Wii U Gamepad battery cover ever came loose? Mine has. Twice. I noticed a tiny gap my nail could fit in. Try to get your nail in, and once in you can move your finger left to loosen it or right to tighten it. Hope this helps you

Minecraft Skin Packs Won't Let Me Save Game

We recently purchased Minecraft on the Wii U along with several additional DCL skin packs. During the game we can use the purchased DLC skin packs no problem, but when attempting to save the game says that we are using a trial skin pack and then it directs us to the eShop to try to purchase it again. But we've already purchased it! The one specifically causing us problems right now is the Star Wars Rebels skin pack. We purchased it yesterday. I confirmed today in the eShop that it's showing as purchased. It's showing unlocked in the game. It lets us use/play with the skins. But we cannot save!

 

During a general google search shows that this has been a problem for some Xbox and PS console users as well with no real solutions that I could find.

Backup and restore savegame

Hi all,

 

Yesterday my four year old sun accidentally deleted all savegames in a Wii U game.

I know he should not play alone etc etc, but with kids these kind of things can happen.

 

I started thinking if there may be an option to create a backup of the savegame data, on external media, USB for example.

I found this article on the nintendo website: http://http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2865/~/how-to-back-up-save-data

 

I tested the following steps.

* Inserted USB in the Wii U

* Formatted the USB device

* Backup (COPY) all game data from certain games to the USB device

* Deleted a save game slot from Super Mario 3D

* Restore (COPY) game data from the USB device, back to the SAME Wii U system and overwrite.

 

After that I tested, but the removed save game slot did not return.

Is it even possible to restore savegame data from usb , on the SAME Wii U device ?

Or did I do something wrong ?

Hi,

 

My Wii U got a problem for no reason where it'll freeze on intensive games after a while and have occasional graphical glitches. It started after I saw a guy with random characters in his tag on Smash Bros Wii U. Anyway, I've already contacted support but since its such a weird problem, all they could do was schedule repairs. I want to try a factory reset to fix it, but the problem is I can't backup specific games such as SSBB and MKWii. I believe it's because they used Nintendo's old Wi-Fi connection. Is there anyway to back them up to an SD? I can't move them even though they can't go online anymore. Right now there stuck on this console that I can't even get repaired without losing save data.

Wii U Error code 165-6596

I've been getting this error for about a week. Every time I do something that's Amiibo related, my gamepad throws this error and quits working.. The console its self continues fine, but the gamepad has to be restarted. So far I've seen this crash when accessing the Amiibo menu in Mario Kart 8, accessing the Amiibo settings from the Wii U system menu, and literally any time Smash Bros. is on. I've tried restarting the game pad, letting the battery die, and restarting the Wii U itself, but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Question regarding Nintendo Network ID?

I currently can't call Nintendo's support team because Nintendo is closed as of right now so I'm asking here. Is there anyway to transfer my Nintendo Network ID from one Wii U to another if I currently don't have my other Wii U with me? I am in my 3rd month of college and decided to buy a Wii U because I had to leave my old one at home with my siblings.

 

Is it possible to transfere my ID from that Wii U to my current one? Would deleting it off of the other Wii U fix it?

Internet connection issues

I've never had problems connecting to the internet with my Wii U before and I haven't changed the router. This week I was playing smash bros for wii U online normally and the next day the console refused to connect when trying to update the game, showing the following message: "Unable to find a Wi-Fi network". My laptop and 3DS work connect as usual. I have tried power cycling the modem, the Wii U,  adding a new connection, setting the connection manually, verified SSID and password, but nothing has worked. I tried searching for the error code (103-1605 and 103-1606) without success. How can I solve this problem?

Transferring Nintendo account to a different Wii U

Long story short, I got water damage on my old Wii U and now it doesn't work. I went out and bought a refurbished Wii U and I was hoping to transfer my account to the new system. However, it won't let me transfer due to my account being linked to my broken Wii U. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make my situation work?

Getting freezing (Error Code 170-0001) when playing any Wii U game

Hello,

 

Recently I've been getting constant game crashes when trying to play Wii U games on my Wii U. When I check the Recent Errors, it's always Error Code: 170-0001.

 

At first I thought it was just one game as I was playing Super Smash Bros 4 so I tried doing fixes specifically for that game.

  • I uninstalled all the DLC I had on it and that didn't work.
  • I then uninstalled and then reinstalled all the game patches and that didn't work.
  • I read that for some games that use Miiverse, that setting the language to English Only could fix the problem so I tried that and it didn't work.
  • I've tried killing my internet connection by removing all internet connections from the system (I use a WiFi connection) and still didn't work.

 

I've checked my game disc for scatches just in case (even though it's still in mint condition) and found none.

 

So after performing all these tests, I decided to try another game to see if maybe it was just an issue with Super Smash Bros 4.

I tried Mario Kart 8 which I had not played at all yet. As such the disc is also brand new and I installed the game updates before playing.

Once the updates were installed I tried playing the game and within 30 minutes the game froze. Again the error code is 170-0001.

 

At this point I'm very worried there's something wrong with the disc reader itself.

However, if I play old Wii games on the Wii U, those work just fine with no crashes at all.

 

So at this point is there anything else I can do to try and fix this? or do I need to send my Wii U in for repairs?

My Wii U is less than a year old.

SSB4 PROBLEMS

Does anyone have a hard time finding players online? I mean *** man. I keep finding people that I've already played with and it keeps happening each day. The only that sucks is that i can only play 1v1 for glory. For some reason, I can't find anyone on free-for- all or team smash. Also, I can't even participate in tourneys. It keeps saying that I'm not able to join that tourney. Honestly, this game is broken for sure.
