I have had nothing but problems with the Nintendo Wii U. In less than 3 weeks im on my 4th consol. I have never had this much trouble with anything, and Nintendo is supposed to be a reputible company. So, I have finally got a consol which works, the 32GB one. I went ahead and plugged in my Seagate 500GB HDD into the consol and it asked me to format. Sure, no problem. It went through the formatting and I duscovered a problem. Since my Seagate has a Standby feature when not in use, it is impossible for me to download any games onto it because 15 minutes into the download it goes into standby which then causes the download to corrupt and then i have to start it over again. Normally this wouldnt be such a big deal to me, i'd just go and get a new flash drive for it, but now my Seagate HDD cant be read as a harddrive anymore by ANY OF MY DEVICES. NOTHING, ZILCH. Even my PC doesnt even recognize it as a drive anymore. I ran the drive through my Windows 7 machine to format it back to NTFS and that took hours, and it still does not come up as a readable, useable drive. So basically, if there isn't any resolution to this and no one knows how to fix this, Nintendo is going to be owing me a new drive.
