Some suggestions to improve Wii U sales.
Hello everyone!
My name is [Personal Information Removed] and i have always been a Nintendo fan. Making a retrospective I realized that at some point in my life I have always had the fortune to play on one of Nintendo's consoles. I didn't matter if I had to buy it or go to a friend's house in order to play my favorite games, I always liked Nintendo games more than others. Nowadays I own a Nintendo Wii U system and I'm really happy to have it because it not only allows me to play the excellent recent titles but it also takes me back to the past with awesome classics like F-zero and Zelda; however, thanks to intenet I've realized that Nintendo is having a hard time when selling this system; maybe because people can't see a good reason to buy it or (like in Colombia's case) It's not clear what the console is and what it offers.
I would like to discuss that as my first suggestion, but first, I also would like to point out that I'm not an expert in sales or marketing or anything like that. I'm just and English teacher who is trying to show his point of view as a Nintendo fan and cosumer.
So first: Here in Colombia, many people don't understand a gaming console as a "gaming console" but as a "nintendo" (That's it, it's a generic name and people know consoles as Nintendos). So it was natural for us to watch those awesome TV commercials about Wii like in the early 2000's. But I was surprised to know that Nintendo had released a new system after Wii and I hadn't realized! That was beacuse there were no TV commercials about it! At the beginnig I believed that a Wii U was only a gamepad with a touch-screen that was able to be connected to your existing wii console so I wasn't so enthusiastic about buying it; then, I knew it was a completely new console. So my suggestion is: please, don't forget Latin-America as a potential client for Nintendo. People don't know Wii U in here!
Second: Many people (not only in my country) still own Gamecube games but their console doesn't work anymore and at least people I know can't receive any support in order to repair it o whatever, so here I go: Wii U should have retro-compatibility with Gamecube games as well! It's just another way to catch up with people's desires. I'd get crazy If I had the opportunity to collect ALL Super Mario games in only one console and I'm sure a lot of people would feel the same. NOTE: This is basically the same reason for my next suggestion.
Third: People love classics (I'm sure you've realized about that thanks to the eShop). So, why not giving us the opportunity to purchase Nintendo 64 titles right out of your eShop! I mean, collectors (Like me) would love it.
Fourth: I've been reading and in many websites they highlight Nintendo 3DS as the best-seller console in 2013, and you don't need to be a genius to know that there are A LOT of people who already play on it, so: If people already owns a handheld console, why not awarding them with the posibility to connect it to the new console in the same way as a wii remote? I mean, using your 3DS (which you already own) as a controller takes the action to one more person in your family and would be great for games like Nintendo land, Wii party U and many others.
Fifth: I know that there are already in the market many devices to play DVD and Blu-Ray movies, but come on, people are sooooo lazy that they would prefer just playing them on their Wii U rather than setting up the TV in order to use their Blu-ray player. (Besides, Blu-ray players are not so popular in Latin-America). So that would be a nice feature to have on your system.
Sixth: Hey! have you noticed that people love social gaming? Yeah we love it! and you made an outstanding job with Nintendo Miiverse, but it still can be improved. It's great that you have to own a Nintendo console to sign in, because that way the site keeps its exclusive environment, but other people should also be allowed to read comments and opinions about games. I know that if you log into Miiverse using a smartphone or PC (Or even Wii U browser) you can share your Miiverse posts on Facebook adn Twitter but it would be great that you could actually link your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your Miiverse so that you don't have to use another browser to share your posts (Besides, you could improve the format in which Miiverse posts appear on the other social networks).
Well I think that's all for now. For some people my suggestions would sound unappliable or even lame. Well, as I said before, I've read a bit about the situation but I'm not an expert and I still believe that these things would help people gain a bit more interest in buying a Wii U. I hope you can take advantage of this post and please let's try to avoid destructive comments!

Wii U gamepad left analog stick trouble HELP
I was playing ZombiU on the wiiU, everything was ok. I decided to play the legend of zelda the windwaker. I noticed link was doing a strange dance...every time I made the camera face the front he focuses on the direction the camera is facing. I move around fine but when I try to go backwards he slows down. What's wrong with my analog stick? It's a limited edition legend of zelda gamepad and I dont want to loose it! I want to know how to fix it. PLEASE help!
Problem with trying to download a game on wii mode VC
I just recently got wifi to use, so I wanted to start downloading stuff both on the eshop and Wiishop. I put in $10 for 1000 points for paper mario first. That went fine, until I went to download the game. I started the download and after a few minutes, I got an error and try again option. I clicked it and my screen went black. I had to unplug and plug in the wii u. Then I went to see that my points are gone with no game, so I lost $10 for nothing. Can someone help me.out here?
Wii U and DDR mat
So, I just learned that the DDR mat uses the old game cube bit that is not available on the Wii U. I love my Wii U and really don't want to have to buy another console to play the game. Has anyone tried and maybe just maybe found an adapter that works with the mat?
Trying to sync the gamepad and the TV is displaying black.
The system was working fine the last time I used it. I turned it on this morning and now the controller won't connect. So I'm trying to resync it to the system, and I get to the step where it asks me to put in the four "card" symbols displayed on the TV. Only problem is, the TV isn't showing anything. I tried it with other inputs (cable box, DVD player, etc) and it works fine, so it's not the TV. I've tried unplugging the Wii U to fully power it down, I've checked the HDMI connection to the TV, everything. Still nothing. The only fix I can think of is to try the 256 possible sync combinations until I get the right one (assuming the Wii U doesn't shuffle the required code every time you make a new attempt). Obviously, that's not something I want to do, so I'm hoping someone here has a better solution.
(I'm looking at you Mario. I know you patrol these forums.)
Gamepad wont turn on console
My gamepads power button will not turn on my console, or even the gamepad itself. Not will the tv remote button work while the console is off. But if i turn on the console itself, then the gamepad cuts on and all problems are gone. I can then use the tv button and use the power button to cut it off but once its off the problem is right back. Ive tried unpluggin the console overnight and pretty much everything i could think of. Is there anyway to fix this other than sending it in for repairs?
Nintendo ID Created But Never "Linked"
I created a Nintendo ID with my preferred screen name on a Wii U (we'll call this NNID #1). When I got to the dialog that talks about "linking" the Ninendo ID to the console and how "this can not be changed once linked" I backed out. Instead, I created a throwaway account (NNID #2) and linked that one instead so that I could start exploring the online content on the Wii U.
I now own another Wii U. This is the unit I want to use the Nintendo ID I originally created (NNID #1) and never actually linked on my first Wii U. But when I go through the dialog to "link an exsiting Nintendo ID" and put in the info for NNID #1, I am presented with an error message saying that NNID #1 is linked to another console.
I'm confused. I specifically avoided linking NNID #1 to the first Wii U I had because I was afraid of something like this happening. Because I never linked NNID #1 I should be able to use it on a different console, right? Or is it the case that since I created NNID #1 on a different Wii U, that now it is locked to that console. If that's how it works, why even give the warning that "this can't be changed later" when running through the linking dialog?
Can I link the account created on my first Wii U (NNID #1), to my new Nintendo Wii U?
Close Knit for Wii Party U not working
This game worked one time and now none of the controls work. I've gone thru the tutorial countless times just thinking I was stupid and missed something. Now Close Knit is the first game that pops up for every board game and Balldozer so we have to reset. I tried having CPU's play to get us past this horrid game but they do nothing as well. I really enjoy this game with my family but want to play the board games again. Any ideas what I should do.
Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope.
Eshop related question
This is probably just a tough luck situation, but I bought Monster Hunter 3U on the eshop the day before it went on sale, and I wanted to know if there was any way to make up for the extra money i spent.
Problems with the gamepad!!
Removing NNID off of a Wii U(but keeping on 3ds)
I have my account on a friends Wii U and I was planning on getting my own Wii U realitvliy soon.
My question is how will this affect my NNID on my 3DS?
I linked the NNID that I made on my friends Wii U with my 3DS once it became possible to do so.
Thanks.
My wii u is European, I am not.
Hello guys i bougth my wiiu in Europe since stores dont sell the console in my home contry(Brazil). I was wondering how to register my wii u location to brazil, becouse there wasnt such option in my new nintendo console. I bougth the wiiu just to play MH tri ultimate, but i feel that a ping bar would help me choose my favorite rooms better. there was a bit of lag compared to my wii version of the game(partialy due to my poor contrie connection fault, and the fact that i am registered as south africa...closest net choice to here).
I cant help but feel the south american region was left out, and i am worried about region lock issues. Please note me if i can buy North american imports, else i can just keep buing from europe....It would just be nice to know. Further id like to say that the text in the tv is too small, and i dont like the portable tv controller, it felt very forcefull to use it at the 3 hours update for the console. The wii u pro controller is alot beter and i wanted for text to be readble in the tv(note: the wii configuration of text was just correct).
Mh u is a great game, and dont care that much about the rest of the games in this console.I had all nintendo consoles to date and i know variety is not its strong aspecs. So this is what i would like to play in case u want to sell more games to me: A new super smash brothers( best nintendo franchise when it comes to family and friend fu/replay in my opnion). A zelda that was actually made for the nintendo wiiu(not trans paltformer like twiligth that was a game cube game on the wii) , and please the option to play in a wii u controller or pro controler only(Get the text rigth or eventually patched!). I am sorry for your troubles lately but all i can do is buy games i d like to play...if there aint no new games there s nothin more i can enjoy or consume from you guys.
OW, And i got like 5 GC controlllers that are simply working poorly(if at all cuz they are old), inst there any of those out there no more? they were the best way to go in action games on the wii!
From a tuff but tender costumer
Good luck for us all in this turbulent world economy times! Hope to be able to enjoy your consoles tomorow, bye!

How do I back-up Save Data on the Wii U?
I've had hardware failures in the past with other game consoles, resulting in a complete lost of all the game save data I hadn't backed up on external storage.
Since then I've taken the habit of backing up all my games' save data regularly but with the Wii U this appears to be impossible to accomplish in a practical manner. I have no interest in purchasing an external USB Harddrive, format it for my Wii U exclusively then use it strictly for a few MB of save data which does not guarantee my data will be recoverable should my Wii U suffers a hardware failure since the Drive is formatted only for that specific Wii U.
Can't we simply use an SD card or USB thumbdrive to back up save data?
Gamepad extremely short range
Hello,
Recently (within the last 2 weeks) I've noticed that my Gamepad has been having trouble staying connected to the console. Previously, I've been able to keep the two connected as far as about 30 feet away (even through walls). However, the connection has grown progressively worse, until as this morning my 3-year-old was not able to play without issues despite sitting directly next to the console (about 1-2 feet away).
Is anyone else experiencing this issue (or have experienced it in the past, with resolution)? I do not suspect damage to the pad as it's only lightly to moderately used. The only change within the last couple of weeks is that I've bought Super Mario 3D World and a 3rd-party dock for charging the gamepad and other controllers (I worry about the kids damaging the gamepad's power jack).
Any pointers or advice would be helpful. I'm a Software Engineer so I've already gone through a lot of troubleshooting (short of surveying the wireless signal strength and re-syncing the gamepad to the console).
Thanks in advance!
Youtube Video Buffering
I use alot of my time on Youtube on my Wii U, but there are times where the app and the browser version that the video will buffer some seconds then play and do it again! Please help!
Recent issues with the YouTube app?
Hi, I'm just making a post to see if an issue I've been having has been similar for anyone else, or if its something only I've been experiancing.
Up until recently I've been able to use the YouTube app just fine, but whats happening since last night is when I try to use it is it will hang at its loading screen indefinately. I'll go through a step by step of exactly what happens.
- I'll select the app on the Wii U menu and it'll start its pre-load and be able to get into the app successfully, HOWEVER what'll happen is that at the end of its loading, a high pitch squeal will come out both the TV and game pad. Similar to the "horn of death" that'll come up when the console freezes, only it lasts a very short moment and isn't all that loud.
- The app will start up, but will hang at the loading screen where the TV is black with the YouTube logo in the centre, and the gamepad is white with the YouTube logo and that little wheel is spinning. I've let the console sit at this screen for almost 10 minutes and nothing would ever happen.
Here's a couple of interesting notes on it as well.
- The console never actually freezes. Even when its hanging at the YouTube app, I can still press the Home button and get back to the Wii U menu at and time without issue.
- No other apps have had this issue. Netflix and Hulu run just fine (can't speak for Amazon since I don't use the service), and even going to YouTube on the brower and opening videos that way has worked just fine without any issues at all.
- None of my games have been freezing either, both Wii U and Wii games.
I tried removing and reinstalling the YouTube app, didn't help. I tried deleting and then re-setting up my wireless connection, both manually and automatically, no luck.
I guess all I can figure is at this point something is wrong with the app or how its connecting to YouTube, but I just wanted to see if anyone else was having similar issues, or if this was pointing to a sign of something being wrong with my Wii U in particular and that I should get my unit replaced. I did send a tech support form request to Nintendo, but I'm waiting on if I'll get word back for that.
Thanks in advance for any added input.
Disc Drive?
Hi all,
So this is a bit embarassing, but long story short I thought a disc was stuck in the Wii U. Tried ejecting it multiple times and resetting the power and such. Turns out, there wasn't even a disc to begin with in there lol. I'm relieved because I was about to send it into Nintendo. Anyway my question is was the Wii U damaged in any way since I kept trying to eject an empty disc slot?
Wii game on Wii U console
I have Wii U console and it doesn't provide the Just Dance 2013, I am wondering if I could play and connect the Wii Just Dance game to my wii U console? If yes, can someone please help me how? Thank you!
