Mario Kart 8 Update/DLC not working

$

Hello,

The problem I am experiencing is that Mario Kart 8 won't update and won't include the DLC. (2 pack and Mercedes Benz)

My brother and I turned our Wii U on to see an add for the DLC, so we went on to the eshop to buy it. Unfortuantely before we downloaded it, we went out of the eshop, so we went back on to download it. It said that "some of this data is already on the system" and we click ok, and then we check the downloads. The Downloads did not list any of the DLC. We load up Mario Kart 8, and we notice it doesn't have the updates people talked about, like the map popping up or the stats on the main menu.

We checked our downloads, and checked for updates, but it said that software automatically updates if you start the game. Obviously this didn't happen.

So what is going on here? What do we do to get our DLC and to get our game to update?

Wii U crashes all the time (vuvuzela)

I bought a Wii U late last year, but the system constantly crashes on me when I play Super Smash Bros. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's crashed more than 30 times and I've put 28 hours into the game. Occasionally the system will crash before I can even start the game. I've turned off the quick start menu and selected "english only" in Miiverse, which are things I've heard people said would fix it, but I still have problems. I've also played Windwaker HD and Nintendo Land on the system and had no problems with those games, so could the problem be with my disc? I don't think so because it has crashed on the main menu before and when it does crash I can't hit the home button or anything to unfreeze it. Should I call Nintendo's technical support, can I try to get a repair set up online, or is there anything more I can do from my end to fix the problem? Any info or advice would be appreciated.

On a side note, I know people had this problem a lot in 2012 as seen in the support thread bellow, but I can't find what their solution was or what Nintendo's response to that was.

Mario Kart 8 Bundle Pack Problem

I recently bought the Bundle Pack with both Packs 1 (Link) and 2 (Animal Crossing). But once I started the game, only Pack 1's content appears, with the characters and tracks. I checked back on my receipt to make sure I purchased both and it says I have.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help!

Is a Nintendo Network ID necessary for each family member?

I'll try to quickly explain this without confusing everyone. I bought a 3DS for my son a a year ago, I created a Nintendo Network ID like it asked, I wanted to be the account holder so I created a Mii for myself that is attached my NN ID. I can see that same Mii on my Wii U that I created from the 3DS.

However, I wanted to create a new user/separate account for my son on the Wii U so his games wont interfere with mine and the same for the 3DS. I don't know if I'm doing it right? On the Wii U I clicked "Add New User", entered my parental pin. It then asked me if I already had a Nintendo Network ID, I said NO. I mean I have my own NN ID but my son doesn't. Does he even need one?

Anyways, I clicked NO and it allowed me to create his own Mii and I gave him his own NN ID. Did I do everything right? Now how do I get his Mii, along with his NN ID over on the 3DS along with min? Are two NN ID's needed?

Gamepad extremely short range

Hello,

Recently (within the last 2 weeks) I've noticed that my Gamepad has been having trouble staying connected to the console.  Previously, I've been able to keep the two connected as far as about 30 feet away (even through walls).  However, the connection has grown progressively worse, until as this morning my 3-year-old was not able to play without issues despite sitting directly next to the console (about 1-2 feet away).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue (or have experienced it in the past, with resolution)?  I do not suspect damage to the pad as it's only lightly to moderately used.  The only change within the last couple of weeks is that I've bought Super Mario 3D World and a 3rd-party dock for charging the gamepad and other controllers (I worry about the kids damaging the gamepad's power jack).

Any pointers or advice would be helpful.  I'm a Software Engineer so I've already gone through a lot of troubleshooting (short of surveying the wireless signal strength and re-syncing the gamepad to the console).

Thanks in advance!

Left Analogue Stick on Wii U Gamepad Unresponsive

I have had this Wii U since it launched in November 2012 and I have never had the following problem until January 2015.

While playing Hyrule Warriors, I noticed my character would suddenly stop running for a brief moment and then start walking again when I am holdng the left analogue stick upwards.  I also tested this on menus and on the internet browser and noticed it does not smoothly scroll when I hold up on the left analogue stick.  My best way to describe it is that it is stuttering or staggering.  It works perfectly fine when pushed in any other direction but a decent range on the stick when pressed upward does not respond as well as it used to.  A week or so ago, the stick was working fine.

I am wondering if the stick could have been damaged somehow when transfering it from home back to school after Christmas break and if there is a quick and easy fix to it. I have already attempted recalibrating it using the A, B, -, and + button combination but it did not work.  My best guess is that the stick was held in the upward direction when it was in the carrying case until I removed it.

As of right now I am attempting to work the stick a bit by pressing it and moving it in circles and other things like that.  Any other suggestions on what to do would be helpful.  I would rather not have to send it in to be repaired.

Report Button & Annoying Glitch in Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS

Here is a suggestion I have for Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS. I play online a lot on my Wii U, and I find a lot of annoying players. Just earlier, I found a group of 3 people who were all ganging up on me... in a team battle. Yeah, I didn't even know that could happen until today. I found myself really wanting to report them, but there isn't any command for that. Naturally, I came here to see if you all could help to add this in somehow.

Here is one more complaint I have: sometimes, when I join a server, I can't move my pointer - none of buttons work except for the B button, which lets me go back. My controls work when I go back, but I have to restart my Wii U to get my pointer to work again. I also know for a fact that I'm not the only one experiencing this issues - My friend started noticing the same problems on his Wii U. Can anyone help me with these two topics? Thank you for your time.

Mario Kart 8 Error and Disconnect

I have owned Mario Kart 8 since the day it came out and since day one I have had issues playing online, which is one of the biggest reasons I purchased the game. Is anyone else having this issue? Sometimes the game will let me race ten or twenty times with zero errors and everything runs very smoothly. Other days I am not able to even make it through a single race without "A Communication Error Has Occurred" popping up on the screen. And that is all it says. There is no error code or explanation. I have called Nintendo and they walked me through setting up my router to better communicate with my Wii U. However, even after doing that it is still not working any better. Any thoughts? Ideas? Everything else connected to my router is running very well and smoothly. Even other Wii U games work online just fine with no problems, it is JUST Mario Kart 8. I would love to get some feedback from Nintendo on this. I am hoping that by starting this forum it will open Nintendo's eyes to the problem in case they are unaware of it.

I was playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 online and a black screen with server information showed up. Such information included: "Stack Trace, Server, Backend, Database, WIIUAB, Wed July 09 20:52:49 2014"
This is the 3rd time this has happened. I dont know why it says July 09 even though it's January, or why it crashed. Any help?

Brand New Wii U sistem scratching my video game disc.

2 weeks ago I bought my Wii U and video games entirely new without use. Yesterday and today my video games began to put me a message, telling me that the video game "is possibly dirty" , I check all my video games and I noticed that are scratched near the hole on the side of the cover art. I think when it scratches, drops it on the lens, and it can't read the disc properly. What should I do? Can i get a new Wii U and games or what? I am disillusioned with this, my favorite games as the saga of Zelda among others are scratched ...

In the same place on all disks around the hole:

RCA set up/Wii U

Just set an CRT RCA tv up for cable, my only problem? Is that it doesn't have Video 2 on it... so my question is this, would unplugging the dvr so I can access channel 3 be good so I can play my consoles? I used to do that with my old NES back in the day, but I'm not sure if the option is even available now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'd like to be able to take advantage of the Eshop sale.

Note: This tv is a temp one until I get a new one around March/April.

Replacing scratched LCD

Hello,

I recently dropped my gamepad, and it hit the corner of a sharp toolbox, which resulted in a scratch. Not so deep that it cracked or lost touch functionality (to my knowledge) but I would like to consider getting it replaced.

If possible I'd like to get a quote on the repair of how much it would cost.

I would provide specs and things, but the only thing relevant I think I could add is that the gamepad is from a refurbished Wii U I purchased from Nintendo.

That being said I also understand that it is not under warranty, but I am still interested in how much it would be to make the repairs.

Thank you. : )

SOLVED-- WIIU menu intermittently doesn't come up

I literally searched for weeks on how to solve this, so I just wanted to share my solution in case I'm not alone with this issue. It was actually a very simple fix.

The problem: Whenever I turned on my Wii U, whether from the gamepad or the console, the gamepad would enter the menu while the television showed no signal. The console would be "on" with the power light on and the disk moving, but nothing would come up. When I tried to start a piece of software from the gamepad, it would tell me that it was too far away from the console to function.

After powering down the gamepad and the console sepparately, it would then turn on correctly on the second attempt. It was an intermittent issue that did not really stop the functionality of the WII U beyond the first start up, but it was quite frustrating.

TLDR; The gamepad and the console turned on, but there was no signal to the TV. Gamepad could not connect to the Console. everything was fine after restarting.

The Solution: Go to System Settings from the WII U menu. Scroll right until you find the Power Settings, near the end of the menu. The top most items should be Auto Power-Down, and Standby Functions. Disable both of these items.

The Auto Power-Down Function allows the system to "sleep" after being idle for some times

The Standby Function allows the console to perform certain operations after being powered down. This includes the Quick Start Menu that pops up on the gamepad as the console is still in the process of booting up.

I am unsure which of these functions is the true culprit. It could be both, it could be just one, or it could even be just a single Standby Function that is affected by turning them all off. I plan to update this thread with a more definitive solution, but I can tell you with great certainty that one of these settings is the culprit. I do not want to declare one solution to be THE solution until I have been able to do more testing.

I hope this helps someone! This issue was driving me up the wall.

Wii U pop-up on Internet Browser

I opened the Internet Browser and was attempting to type in youtube.com but accidentely clicked on another of google's suggestions.  Now I Have an open tab with a pop-up that keeps looping (something about a security breach and to call this number) I "x" it out but it keeps popping up.

I found a suggestion to open the notifications tab then click on the blue globe at the bottom to open a new tab.  This works, however, the previous tab is still open and looping.  I have tried to hold the B button down to close it out but it pops up too fast.  Please help!

Wii U plastic appears slightly warped

So, this is odd.

I've had my Wii U for more than a year now, and it's worked fine the whole time (apart from some minor clicking issues that I've already brought up here: http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/145845#145845). However, I've always noticed that the console is slightly imbalanced when lying horizontal. Whenever I push on the back right corner, the console rocks a bit. Turns out, it only sits on three nubs. The fourth one, in the back right, is a few millimeters off the tabletop.

(Yes, the tabletop is level. I checked).

For a while, I didn't think much of this, assuming that the back right nub was shorter than the rest. But upon close inspection, I've found that this isn't actually the case. The plastic on my Wii U appears to be warped. It's a bit hard to describe, but it looks like the entire body was twisted ever so slightly.

I have no idea what to make of this, since the console runs just fine. But I've seen others complain about their console wobbling, and it sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. (http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/100672)

If you guys have time, do me a favor. Take a look at your consoles. See if its unbalanced while sitting horizontally. If so, see if you can tell what the cause is. I'd like to know if this is a common defect.

Bought a New External Hard Drive, Not Working

I've sent a message like this to the manufacturer about this subject, now I'm doing the same to Nintendo to see if where on the line is really the "fault." I'm near the point of frustration, and long story summed up, I bought a new External Hard Drive, recieved it today, sent some data to it, says it's not working, thought it was because Mario 3D World was in it, then screen goes black after re-do and shows another error stating that the device was removed or not recieving enough power, and every USB slot ends up the same result. Nintendo I need help once again and hopefully before June and I think you know why I say that. I wish I can discuss more on this right now, but I have to get ready for work now. So I'm literally going to copy and paste an ENTIRE post of what I said to "Seagate" about what I'm experiencing.

"Here's  the run down in the most calm state I can be right now, which is not  much at all. I bought one of your 1TB External Hard Drive for a gaming  system, the Wii U. I got the hard drive today from Amazon, and after the  format I tried sending files from the system to the Hard Drive, and  then I get an error. I thought it was just a fluke, new item bound to  happen. Then it happens a lot more, where I would get a black screen  stating "the device is either removed or not recieving enough power."  Which has to be B.S. because it's just one cord, a USB cord, how is it  not recieving enough power? I plugged it in every USB slot, the result  is the same. Works for 1 maybe 3 minutes then error code if not black  screen with error code. And since I already sent a few files into the  hard drive it's almost near impossible to get back. well it's possible,  it's just time consuming, and as I'm typing this, I have less that 19  minutes till I have to go to work. I bought it off Amazon for $69.99  (Prime membership) and even with that, it's a lot of money and it's  money that goes to something you expect to work when you get it. I'm  nearing the verge of just sending this back and getting my money back  and try someone elses External Hard Drive, but first I will be sending  this thread to see maybe if I'm doing something wrong, or maybe this  external hard drive that makes me want to incinerate it really has a  problem that was recieved while being transported, either way, I'm  frusterated and it would be amazing if this can be resolved before the  end of June. I have my reasons why I need it done before then."

Maybe someone here may know something I don't, if so, great, I'll take anything, I'll see all if any responses after 9 (4 hours and 30 minutes) from now.

Are resurfaced games save in the Wii U?

Best seller on eBay uses a professional grade resurfacing machine on games.  I would think it's safe and doesn't even bring down the quality of the game, at least compared to ordinary resurfacing machine such as a Disk Doctor.
