Smash Bros "A Communication Error Has Occurred"

Posting for a friend of mine:

 

In Smash Bros Wii U he gets an error message "A Communication Error Has Occurred" every time he tries to connect online. There is no error code or any other information given. The error generally occurs shortly after he joins the game. He can generally pick a character and select a stage before he's kicked from the game. This happens every single time, and is not sporadic.

 

Things we've tried:

  • Forwarding all necessary router ports
  • Setting NAT to "Open"
  • Power-cycling router
  • Whitelisting MAC address

 

Things we still need to try:

  • Going online using browser
  • Resetting Wii U to factory default and re-downloading all updates

 

Nothing seems to work - and I can't find any similar cases online. Does anyone have experience with a similar problem?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 crashes Wii U when loaded from USB drive

Pretty much what the topic says. I bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the eShop, it downloaded to my USB hard drive, and when I try to load the game here's what happens:

 

- Screen goes black.

- Gamepad shows white Wii logo briefly, like it does when you run Wii Mode

- After ~10 seconds, the external hard drive clicks off.

- After 2-3 minutes, the Wii U reboots.

 

I can fix the problem by moving the game to the System Memory, and from there it loads just fine. But the game is 1.4GB, and my system memory is already pretty close to full. Is there any way to fix this? I'd like to buy more Wii games when they become available, but not if I can only run them off the system memory.

 

Before anyone says "your external hard drive is broken", I have plenty of other Wii U retail, Wii U download only, and Virtual Console games on there now, and they all load just fine.

 

Any help would be appreciated!

Punch Out downloaded from eshop crashing Wii U

I downloaded Punch Out from the eshop to my Seagate Expansion 2TB 3.5 inch external hard drive with external power. The hard drive is on the compatible list, and it works flawlessly with all other eshop and full retail game downloads.

 

When I try to load Punch Out, the TV screen goes black, the gamepad goes black, and the Wiimote turns off. I have to pull the power cord to get the Wii U to reset, as no buttons work other than eject?

 

This is doing the exact same thing while trying to boot up Super Mario Galaxy that I downloaded last week. When I moved the files to the Wii U hard drive everything boots up just fine.

 

Has anyone else run in to these problems?

Does anyone know if Nintendo is actively trying to fix this.

Wii U Connectivity Issues

After a few months of having my original Wii U it suddenly started having connectivity problems. My Wii U got on wifi then no matter what I would lose connection a couple minutes later. I exchaged Wii U's and the fully new one does the same exact thing as my old one. Therefore I believe the issue is the wifi connection. When I tried to use network stuff like the Internet browser, Friends list, Miiverse, or Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & Mario Kart 8 online I got an error message. Every single time I'm online I get kicked before the fight/race/game, the good stuff. Each time I tried to connect again I would get an error code 101, with a message stating my Wii U can't find wifi. Moving my Wii U's closer to the router, wasting money by exchanging Wii U's, Nothing seems to work. Any one Help?

Mario Party 9 and the Gamepad

Can you use GAMEPAD + Wii Remote to play Mario Party 9 on the Wii U console???  I understand that the disc would have tot be in the console, which would have to be turned on.

 

When I play Mario Galaxy 2 I use GAMEPAD + Wii Remote + Nunchuk; and this setup plays great!

Wii U system freezing a lot lately...

I have had some issues with my system freezing over the last week, and I'm not sure if it is related to a couple of games I downloaded or not.  I have checked on the web but no one else seems to have the problems I have.

 

On Paper Monsters Recut, I encountered this issue quite frequently with the mini games.  However, the worst culprit involves Ballpoint Universe Infinite.

 

Every time I sit to play, at least once every session it freezes.  I have to power off through the console, and start again.  But it happens every single time.  I have deleted and re-dowloaded it.  I have tried setting the quick start menu to off, and starting the game right from the Wii U Menu.  Still freezes every time.

 

Since this has happened with the two games I most recently bought, I am concerned that there might be a problem with my system.  It was a launch one, so out of warranty.

 

Has anyone else had these problems with these games, or any suggestions?

So I have a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Desk external drive ( Model STAC2000103 for you curious ones). My wii U has recognized it and formatted it and I have moved games and saves and it looks like it works beautifully. My question is, can I play my games off of the hard drive like I was able to do with SD cards on the Wii? Also, is there a way to just have the system download games into my hard drive automatically instead of me having to move things around? I might be searching wrong on the forums. I just don't want to start moving games back and forth that I want to play from my drive to the system each time I want to play. Thsnk in advance!

Left analog stick on gamepad moving downwards

My gamepad's analog sticks are moving down, causing irritating and unwanted movement. My gamepad(from release so I probably don't have warranty) has been doing this only recently. I've tried resetting the gamepad's sticks by holding A B + -, not touching the analog sticks when restarting it, and neither of these work. Are there any other solutions?

MH 4 Demo download issues

I tried three of my download codes for MH 4 and NONE of them work. Cannot get them to download. I only gave one away to a friend. Not sure if it affected things. It shouldn't have since I've done it like this before where I downloaded the games after wards.

 

 

 

 

I made sure to copy them down correctly and did the same when I typed them in... so now I'm rather ticked off since this is one of the few times when I can go online today. I'm rather busy so I won't be able to do so for long.

 

 

 

 

 

Anyone else running into this problem? What did you do to get it to work right?

Wii U Gamepad and GCN Controller Input Issues w/ Smash Bros. 4

I've just recently bought this Wii U Deluxe bundle over the holidays from a local Target, and Super Smash Bros. Wii U, and have noticed problems using the gamepad and rereleased Gamecube Controller for certain advance techs such as shorthopping forward from a dash or using an aerial B attack that requires percision, but for some reason the character I play ends up turning around midair or in midjump. This only happens when I press the jump command for a milllisecond and immeditaly tap the L-stick to carry momentum, but the character instead has a chance to turn around. This affects all moves including aerials and recoveries. Some examples of this are unintentionally reversing Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch (Neutral B), Causing Pikachu to turn away from the ledge using Thunder (Down B), Samus firing missiles away from oppenents, Mr. Game and Watch's Judgement missing, among other annoyances. On ground, these issues do not happen with randomly turning to the left or right, and only with the newest controllers I own. I tested this by using my Classic Controller Pro, 3DS and third-party Gamecube Controller, and did not seem to find any similar problems shorthopping. If I could receive any advice on fixing this issue myself or if I could be pointed to a proper channel at Nintendo that can provide help under warranty, it would be appreciated. The gamepad itself is less than two months old and has not suffered any physical damage, and the Target returns policy has expired. I have tried resetting the L and R sticks to neutral and cleaning the input area of the gamepad, to no avail, as well as resyncing it/plugging it in and out.

Setting a password on Wii U Miiverse?

Is there a way to change the password setting on Wii U so that, instead of entering a password when choosing a user, you enter your password when using Miiverse or the eShop, like on 3DS? This would be much more convenient, since I have no problem with others playing my games, but would rather keep Miiverse private.

constant error codes connecting to internet on wii-u

for the last couple weeks, basically since Jan 1,  we have been having trouble connecting to the WII U CHAT,  before that it was working fine and we were also able to play Mario Kart 8,  that doesn't always connect now either.  I have tried reseting all my routers (4 of them) and the modem.  I have tried each router with the Wii-U and get the same problem.  the Wii-U connects to the internet and I can go to web pages and other stuff but not the game or chat.  

 

I know the answer I am going to get is "what is the error code?"  "have you called Nintendo?"    answers are NO and my time is worth more than continually calling a phone number to talk to someone for an hour that doesn't have any other clue as to how to fix the problem than I do    so don't waste our time posting those answers ONE-OF-THREE

External hard drive!

Hello! i just got an external hard drive I checked the reccomended harddrive and desided to go with Toshiba. I could not find the two drives on the list. (either not avalable in my country or old and out of production) So i got the newist one i could find. it just arrived in the mail today and when i plugged it in nothing happened. i when i try to formate teh drove i am left with a checking usb storage device screen. Any help would be aprecated. i can also hear a regular clicking that makes me think it may have arrived damaged.

A Communication error has occured

I am recently having a really weird issue after having had my cable modem replaced.

 

I am trying to connect online to play smash bros, and I will be able to connect and join a game. But then, midway through the game, I get disconnected with the message "a communication error has occurred". From that point, I can no longer go online in the game to even search for a match.

Once that happens, I have also noted that I can not connect to the eshop either.

Rebooting the wii u seems to get everything working again for a very short while.

 

I have gone into the internet connection settings. The connection test always runs just fine with no issues.

I have tried manually entering in all the connection settings instead of letting it automatically configure.

I have set up my router to use a DMZ for the wii u.

None of that helps.

I am not having any connection issues at all on my PC or other devices.

Various tests show normal network function and no packet loss.

 

Wii U was working perfectly fine until I had to change out my cable modem about a week ago. Changed it for the exact same model, and EVERYTHING else through it is working just fine, so I can't imagine that there could be any issue with the modem.

Charger Problem

Yesterday when I unplugged my GamePad AC adapter from the wall socket, the socket sparked and caused a short circuit. This is the first time any charger for any product of mine has ever done this. While the socket is pretty old, it is normally in fine condition, and like I said, this has never happened to me before. After reading up on short circuits, I discovered that one of the big causes is the plug getting too hot and melting away the insulation. Before, I've noticed that after a few hours, the AC adapter plug gets too hot to touch- I could only touch the outside for a few seconds before I got burned. All my other chargers (including the DS and 3DS chargers) just get a bit warm, but never too hot to touch. Basically, I think the adapter getting too hot melted away the insulation in the socket and caused a short circuit.

If this is the case, is it a defect in my particular AC adapter, or a problem in all GamePad AC adapters? Are there any steps that I can take to prevent the plug from overheating and causing more short circuits? If it's relevent at all, the AC adapter is the one that came with the Deluxe set, which I got in 2012. It was plugged into the charging cradle with the GamePad on the cradle at the time when I unplugged the adapter and caused the short circuit, but I've done the exact same thing with the GamePad and the 3DS multiple times and nothing happended until today.

Help! I lost my progress in one of my favorite games!

So, I was playing Super Smash Bros. the other day, and I unlock the theme to Wii Sports Resort. This made me feel nostalgic for that game, so I decide to boot up the game, only to find that all my progress had been deleted and the game has been restarted! Ihaven't played this game since before I transferred all my Wii data to my Wii U, but all of my other Wii games work properly, including Virtual Console titles. This is the only game that I have found to be restarted. Over the past few days, I have tried everything. There are no files left on my SD card, and I even tried playing it on my original Wii. I still don't know what happened. Can somebody please help me and try to find what the problem is and if I can get my data to Wii Sports Resort back? This was one of my favorite games, and it took me a long time to get to where I was in the game. My whole family enjoyed playing this game. Thank you for reading this and I hope that I will be able to finally play this game again,

hyrule warriors error code

helllo, since last patch (1.4) of hyrule warriors, im getting an error code after completing some quests. its 150-2031. there is a message saying that the disk is dirty but there is no scratch at all and i even cleaned it to be sure, still the same message appears after the winning screen after each quest. anybody can help?

Gamepad does not power on the Wii U console

Hi,
I bought myself a Wii u last friday and every thing has been working fine. Love the games and the system. The only thing bothering me is that my Gamepad is unable to power on the Wii U when I press the power button. I tried resyncing the gamepad and the Wii U, unplugging and replugging the gamepad battery and deactivating the stand-by features. None of those did correct the problem. The only thing working is unplugging the Wii U for 10 seconds and replugging it. After that, I'm able to power on the Wii U once with my gamepad. Every try after doesn't work. If I power on the Wii U with it's power button, it starts both itself and the gamepad.
Beside this quirk, the gamepad and Wii U works flawlessly. I'm event able to shutdown the Wii U with the gamepad.
Anyone having resolved this issu ?
